Rising Hearts Part 3 May event, sometime in the middle of May
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
((Event post here))
[Sparring together is nothing new for the both of them. Childe made an agreement with Wanderer to help make him stronger for the day when Dottore showed up, and he's kept that promise. That's why finding a high Rise rating was easy for the two of them, it's no different than them duking it out normally in anticipation for the day that the puppet can finally get revenge on the Doctor for what he did. Childe's yet to find out what that is, but it doesn't matter to him in the end- he's getting what he wants, a powerful opponent to fight on the regular, for now.
At least the suits given to them are a lot better than the rubber ones they had to wear on their previous quest. They look cool, and Childe happily zips his up and puts his helmet on as they're guided towards the platforms where they will hook to the mechas. All in all, it's a pretty neat experience so far, but he's a little skeptical about having their memories possibly exposed to each other. He's already not so sure about letting his former coworker into his mind, but this is also a new, intriguing new way of going into combat- and possibly reaping the benefits of it all afterwards. He's willing to give it a shot.
After all, if it makes him stronger...]
If you lose yourself in here, don't worry...I'll pull you out of it.
[That's said after all their briefing is done, a smirk on his face, his ego never wavering. Childe tugs on his glove once, adjusting his suit to his liking, ready and raring to go to try this mech system out.]
This shouldn't be all that different from what you were already attached to, right? Maybe I should be the one asking for pointers, haha.

[Oof, looks like he touched a nerve. Not that he cares all that much, but he does care enough to make this thing work. The last thing they need to happen is what they were warned about, breaking the flow as it was put, and accosting Wanderer a little too much might put that in jeopardy. But still, he can't help but think how difficult it would be to have to do this by yourself...and he'd be more than willing to give that a go.]
Sorry, I thought you'd be the expert here.
[Sighing, he waits for the techs to attach him to the unit, feeling a little nervous at the idea of now being this close to what he can only assume is a sort of mind-meld with someone who by all means, he could consider an enemy. Machines hum in the background, warming up to initiate the process as he falls silent waiting for it to all happen, stealing glances at how his companion is doing over on his end. But he has to calm himself, taking deep breaths as his eyes close waiting for the moment when it finally happens.]
Okay, you guys ready? Here we go!
[The technician calls out to the two of them, beginning a count down while he takes another breath before it finally happens.]
Ready as I'll ever be. You alright over there?
[He asks Wanderer, though with a hint of earnestness to it- there's no going back now.]

Can you come here for a minute? I think I really need a hug...
[This is most definitely a misfired text.]

[That's the only confirmation he needs- as long as his companion is ready and willing to do this, then he's confident that it should work out. Again, he's fought against this man enough at this point at a high level that their sync should be fine. Should be.
Childe feels his own mind start to fall into somewhere else other than his own self, something black and full of feelings and thoughts that aren't his own. He immediately recognizes that his consciousness is beginning to meld into the puppet's next to him, images flashing though his head from another life, one much longer than his own, and filled with far more anguish and anger.
When his vision comes back to him, his eyes are dilated and his breathing a little heavy, and he can feel how Wanderer is present in his own head. It's a strange, unnerving feeling, and he's not sure how he should feel about it. The Harbinger shoots a quick glance over to his companion, not speaking a word- because he doesn't feel as if he has to, that it would be superfluous. He's sure that anything he feels and thinks is laid open bare for the other to see.
What he wants to do is test how well the two of them can operate this together now, since that is what they were here to do. Confidence swells in his chest, calming himself knowing that they were able to reach this point. But he does want to make sure that Wanderer is also ready to move on.]

[It's a response he should have expected, Scaramouche for as long as he's known him has been a terribly unpleasant person and one of the people least liked by the Harbingers as a collective, and this is why. Childe shoots the other man an exasperated look, not impressed with how he's decided to react to seeing his innermost workings. He's never been afraid to shy away from who he is as a person, but to be dismissed like that- it annoys him and he can feel his temper spike, simmering beneath the surface.]
Oh? I'm boring? You'll have to excuse me for not having hundreds of years of failure under my belt to entertain you.
[That simmer makes his fingers itch, wanting to duke it out with Wanderer right here, right now. But as it stands, they are both hooked up to the machine, and he'd have to sever the connection to do so...which could be disastrous.]
I didn't ask for your judgement. We're supposed to be operating one of these giant robots together, you know. If you're not interested anymore, I'll be more than happy to fight you instead of monsters...

You miserable, vile little puppet...
[Laughing at him like that, it makes his blood boil, makes him want to duke it out with him right here and now. If only he weren't being held back by the suit and all the wires and connections to him, he would happily start that fight right here. But there's also that knowledge he has from being synced with Wanderer's mind that tells him this is exactly what the puppet wants, and archons know that Childe doesn't want to give him the satisfaction either.
So he fights his anger down, swearing that he'd really let this guy have it the next time they spar each other, especially knowing that he could take the beating.
Technicians cry out from behind them, warning the two that if they continue this they'll surely get themselves out of sync and something bad would happen, but Childe just ignores it, instead opting to focus on the mission.]
Just focus on what we need to do here, Scaramouche.
[He's only calling him that since he's acting like it. There isn't a single iota of him that cares if he offends him, but he's positive that it probably doesn't.]

WANDA PLZ LOOOOOL i love his lil gremlin self tho lbr

[He just turns his head to the side as if he doesn't care, as if his words mean nothing to him. But there's just something about this connection he feels with the Wanderer that pushed him into being so angry, as if that anger that lies underneath the puppet's facade has affected him too in some way.]
Are you asking me because you're trying to get out of this now? Don't like being connected to some dumb, boring human?
[He responds this way because he doesn't know if he does or not, but he's not about to let the taunts of some failed puppet get the better of him. There's still a lot of this experience they've yet to explore, and that still intrigues him a lot, more than giving up and not having to deal with Scaramouche's face for the moment.]
I'm still willing to continue. How about you?

Whatever. Fine.
[He turns his head to look forward, to concentrate on the task put in front of them. He doesn't like working with Wanderer now after that little exchange, but it's not like going back now is going to help matters. The pedals in the floor beg for them to try to move them in sync, and Childe takes a deep breath trying to relax his body and mind as he goes to try to "walk".
He's not trying to actively see if Wanderer is trying with him here- he's sure there will be all sorts of terrible bells and whistles that will go off the minute the two of them fall so far that it won't work- or if someone breaks the flow between the two of them and falls into their own memories.]
